Overview

NZ trained therapists are highly regarded overseas and your nzqa approved credits are recognised both nationally and internationally. Our accredited training in all aspects of beauty therapy will equip you with the professional skills for lifelong employment in the industry. If you are seriously committed to a lifetime career in beauty therapy, this is the course for you. You will graduate with the total skills and knowledge needed to work as a beauty and spa therapist in an urban clinic, hotel spa, health resort or cruise ship. Alternatively you may open your own business – or go on to further study in holistic spa therapies, sports and therapeutic massage, physiotherapy, osteopathy, naturopathy or nursing.

In New Zealand a beauty therapist is qualified to carry out a range of face and body treatments designed to improve the condition of the skin and promote a feeling of well-being. These include beautician services (cosmetics, makeup);body therapies (massage, anatomy, physiology), and electrolysis (electrical hair removal.) Each field is covered by a National Certificate and the modules of each certificate are merged into 18 months of intensive study for the diploma. You will also learn aromatherapy, nail technology, and alternate massage spa, and anti-ageing skin treatments – and complete an extra 600 hours of clinical experience in the academy spa.

Modules include:

              ·     Manicure, pedicure and nail technology

·    Beautician services, skin analysis and makeup

·    Lash and brow grooming and lash extensions

·    Manual and electric facial techniques

·    Depilatory waxing and electrical Epilation

·    Chemistry, nutrition, and electrical physics

·    Anatomy, physiology and health studies

·    Swedish and alternate massage techniques

·    Vichy Spa and alternate spa treatments

·    Small business practice

·    Clinical experience in the academy spa

·    Body scrubs and body wraps

·    Hot stone therapy

·    Aromatherapy

·    Indian head massage

·    Deep tissue massage

Applicants must be 17 years or over and are required to attend a personal interview and demonstrate proficient use and understanding in English

Applicants must have a minimum of NCEA level 1 with 12 credits in English or a minimum of Grade C or above in School Certificate in English.

In the event of insufficient places applicants who have met entry criteria will be offered a place on a first-in-first saved basis
